About the Poly-L-ornithine

Poly-L-Ornithine is a synthetic cationic polyamino acid widely used in gene delivery, biomaterials and advanced drug delivery systems. Its strong positive charge provides high affinity for negatively charged biomolecules, particularly nucleic acids, making it an effective polymer for non-viral delivery applications. Curapath’s proprietary synthesis technology enables the production of Poly-L-Ornithine with tailored molecular weights and low polydispersity.

The multiple primary amine groups along the polymer backbone enable efficient nucleic acid complexation while supporting surface functionalization and coating applications. Poly-L-Ornithine enhances cell attachment on a wide range of substrates and has been successfully applied to stem cells, immune cells and other advanced cell models. It has also been shown to improve drug release from nanoparticle-based delivery systems.

Poly-L-Ornithine is widely used in gene delivery, nanoparticle formulation, cell-interactive coatings and advanced biomaterials, supporting the development of innovative drug delivery technologies.
