Poly-L-Lysine (PLL)
Poly-L-Lysine for advanced therapeutics and medical devices.
GMP available, scalable manufacturing and custom functionalization

About the Poly-L-Lysine
Poly‑L‑lysine is a cationic polypeptide composed of repeating L‑lysine residues linked through peptide bonds, which gives the polymer a strong positive charge at physiological pH.
This cationic backbone enables intense electrostatic interactions with negatively charged biomolecules such as nucleic acids, cell membranes, and anionic polymers. PLL is biodegradable, biocompatible, and enzymatically degradable into natural lysine, making it suitable for biomedical applications.
Its high charge density allows it to form uniform, adhesive coatings and to condense nucleic acids into compact complexes, which is why it is widely used in drug‑delivery and also has proven antibacterial propierties in biomaterials.
Uses of Poly-L-Lysine
Drug conjugation
Poly-L-Lysine enables the conjugation of small molecules, peptides, proteins, antibodies and targeting ligands through its multiple reactive amine groups. This versatile platform supports the development of drug conjugates with enhanced stability, targeting capabilities and therapeutic performance.
Gene‑delivery vectors
Its cationic backbone efficiently condenses DNA and RNA into compact polyplexes, improving cellular uptake and supporting non‑viral gene‑delivery strategies.
Gene Editing Therapies
Poly-L-Lysine is a versatile material for the development of nanoparticles, hydrogels and other drug delivery systems. Its tunable properties support efficient payload loading, controlled release and targeted delivery, enabling the design of advanced therapeutic formulations.
Medical Devices & Tissue Engineering
Poly-L-Lysine is widely used in medical devices and tissue engineering to functionalize surfaces and enhance cell interactions. It is incorporated into coatings, hydrogels and biomaterials for implants, regenerative medicine and other advanced biomedical applications.
