Poly-L-Arginine (PArg)

Poly-L-Arginine for drug delivery, cell penetration and bioconjugation. Available in research and GMP grades with custom modifications

About the Poly-L-Arginine

Poly‑L‑arginine (pArg) is a highly cationic polypeptide composed of repeating L‑arginine units, giving it strong positive charge at physiological pH. This enables robust electrostatic interactions with nucleic acids, cell membranes, and other anionic biomolecules.

Its guanidinium‑rich side chains promote efficient membrane association and intracellular transport, making polyarginine a valuable excipient for enhancing cellular uptake and forming stable complexes with therapeutic payloads.

Beyond delivery applications, polyarginine shows antimicrobial and immunomodulatory activity, and certain chain lengths can support wound‑healing environments by reducing inflammation. These multifunctional properties make it useful not only in drug‑ and gene‑delivery systems but also as a functional component in biomaterials, hydrogels, and tissue‑engineering scaffolds.
